Stemcor, the world’s largest independent steel trader, has acquired distribution partner Stainless Imports Ltd to expand its stainless steel business in the UK and Ireland. Tony Lockley, founder of Stainless Imports Ltd, has been appointed Managing Director of Stemcor Stainless (UK), a new division of Eurosteel Products Ltd (Stemcor’s UK import business) and has also been appointed a director of Eurosteel Products Ltd. Stainless Imports will trade under the name Stemcor Stainless (UK) from its current base near Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Tony Lockley has been involved in the stainless steel business since 1972. He formed his first company, Altone Stainless, in 1980 and sold it in 1990 to Ugine France where he remained as MD of Ugine Savoie UK until 1994. He has remained active in the stainless steel business ever since in both the UK and Dubai, culminating in the set-up of his own international trading company, Stainless Imports Limited, in 2009. This business went on to become Stemcor’s stainless steel distribution partner in the UK and Ireland.
Stemcor Stainless (UK) is the exclusive UK channel for stainless cold rolled producer USCO. Comprehensive stocks of stainless cold rolled sheet & coil are held in the UK for delivery within 3 to 4 days from order & on an ex mill basis as coil, sheet & slit coils. Other products available on an ex mill basis include cold rolled & hot rolled coil & sheet, welded & seamless tube & pipe, bar, wire & wire rod.
