Stockholding is the retail end of the steel supply chain. Whereas steel producers generally want bulk production in standard sizes, long production runs and large minimum orders, the vast majority of steel end-users want smaller quantities just in time, low levels of inventory and further processing to match their exact needs. Hence the importance of steel stockholders and service centres.
Stemcor’s stockholding and service centre units meet the needs of customers who purchase in smaller quantities for prompt delivery. This requires the holding of unsold stock across a planned range, with good availability off the shelf. In close proximity to our customers, our stockholders offer immediate availability of a wide range of steel products and delivery of mixed loads from different suppliers. As an international trader we use our substantial purchasing power to supply competitively priced steel products, not only to our own stockholder network but equally to other third party stockholder customers.
